Victorian play

Daytrips were a rare thing for us not least for not having a school minibus compared with today  but we did go out to find out about such things as the Victorians and what being a Victorian Child might of been about.
Shockingly we learnt many Victorian children didn't have a childhood as we understood it, with schooling with them as soon as they were able being expected to enter the World of Work often doing dangerous things like looking after Coal Mines and Mills doint the things the grown ups couldn't do with no say in the matter.
Sometimes we'd have a playtime during such trips in a nearby park or something and when it came to the Victorians we were introduced to the games they played playing as if we we were those children and I'd go and play with the girls games like this.
I think it's where I get the idea of wanting to go back in time from cos I just feel it.

A lesson from Miss

This was more like the kind of lesson we had at high school, probably more around age 14/15 as chalkboards were going out of style although the basics of 'chalk and talk' were still there with the white boards using wipeable marker pens, class lead by teacher.
In our day could could be punished in class and some of us were.

But then that wasn't all as I couldn't get away with anything either.

I'd be caned in class in front of my classmates as they looked in aghast as I screamed and cried, not that it made any difference.
It might be the best thing that happened to this girl,ever.

Malory Towers

This is I'm informed the original dust jacket-the thick paper covers hard backed books come with this volume in the Malory Towers series came with, a series like much of Enid Blyton's books I read as a child and certainly in boarding school which was most appropriate when you sit and think about it.
It resonated strongly with me and I'd of loved to have been in such a school during the era it was written and fortunately my copies haven't had the references to school discipline removed as that was a part of that experience as it was with my own schooling.

Needs

Sometimes the thing we truly need in our lives isn’t pleasant but is necessary.We shouldn’t be spared it if we are to become more mature, reliable people and if I need a good spanking then responsible people should make it happen.  I’d be lying if I said I didn’t need it and it is.
