Was there something I was meant to do?

A feeling I'm very familiar with as I easily get sidetracked away from what it is meant to  be looking up or doing into something else and find I've run out of time which wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't that others are relying  on me and I flunked it.

Lesson for dolls

As no doubt some are aware a different kind of history has been made today, I thought I would made a different post this morning.

I found this image a while ago of traditional German classroom modelled with dolls that reminded me of the kind of junior education I had.

For one thing we had to write out and learn by rote your times tables up to 12, that were put up on the chalkboard and our teacher did have a long stick they pointed at it (and threatened you with!).

Also the desk were wooden with a slope that interestingly many are now saying were better for reading and writing on having removed them for flat stackable tables and chairs.

There were maps on the wall, one showing the extent of the British Empire (as was), something we were proud of and a small class bookcase.

Turning rather more to the dolls I find it is interesting a number are in sailor uniforms, a Edwardian idea and like how the person has added matching satchels.

Tops

There was a time when I used to have a good number of knitted jumpers with bright colourful designs on them  beyond the grey or blue with a dash of colour around the v neck if you were lucky.

I was lucky in that my nan who died just over ten years ago was a great knitter and knitted for me the same sorts of sweaters and cardigans as my female cousins which really made a big difference to me growing up in that era.

Like a good number of people as we got to the late 1980's, I drifted into colourful sweat shirts like the alpine skiing one with greys, purple and white hooded one I had in 1990 and 91.

Presently most of mine are plain school type sweaters but I do wonder if getting a cardigan would do the trick for this forever little girl?

It's your road

Sometimes we forget that on this journey as enjoyable as it is to share in that adventure with like minded friends, it is our walk, following a map of our choosing, to our own destination.

Tomboy or Frou Frou, traditional childhood interests such as playing with dolls or more modern things such as gaming or anime, it is our choice.

True story: Being given the ruler across the palm of my hand did happen to me several times in my mid teens at my last school for things like incomplete or non-existent homework set which you had a separate book to write down your homework assignments and due by dates.

Basically I was being lazy not really wanting to do something every other kid at school had to do to get decent grades. Just saying you were 'disappointed' meant nothing at all as I didn't care about never mind you.

I didn't seem to understand it wasn't really about wanting to "please" anyone, it was really I needed to understand I was on that walk and I alone needed to follow that route and take responsibility for myself.

Progress four years on

The week sees me looking back a bit to four and a bit years ago where I was experimenting and I had help with people pushing some of my boundaries to find rather me of the real me between the bits that I'll be honest can be lazy and disrespectful and just being a mindless people pleaser, losing sight of really who you are.

I found circumstance and situation appropriateness permitting Wearing shorter skirts really suited me and indeed I could alter it to a slightly more grown up look, gaining more inner confidence to let myself out.

Sometimes it feels I've been hiding for like eons in the potato sack, desperately avoiding being noticed.

Although light pollution is a thing here being in a city area, I do enjoy watching the night sky, spotting planets and following comets.

Idealism vs Reality

Of course it was really meant to be just like this.
A studious Jo, sat with the required books to write her essays and other homework on  with a clock and absolutely no distractions at all.
Just getting on with what practically every school girl is expected to so you'd get at least a C grade for effort and getting the basics right.
Do you really think that happened i real life?

Down in our wood

Things in my wood are on the go now so I thought this week, we'd look at some pictures starting with these Bluebells that I came by while walking a few days back, covered up from bity things.

Here you can see all that lush green foliage where the birds locally have built their nests from twigs.I just love hearing birdsong.

Meanwhile over in our Meadow there's plenty of life and you can make a wish with the Dandelion

And this lovely blossom was out too

Finally in my garden  these flowers are have a great time and look so pretty.
Technical note: all shot on Canon  A470 digital compact with just a touch of exposure correction and cropping, that's all.
