Taking care of your clothes

I don't know if that will be happening today, but I do have a soft spot for vintage photographs that explore childhood but beyond the shoes and black dresses it's really their pinafores that grab my attention.
The girl on the right appears to feeling it by the hem - perhaps it was starched?- while the other looks as though she's pointing to a stain as if to say "You'll be in trouble for that" although the entire point is to protect her actual dress from any spills and the like.
I'm always getting them on me.
In an era when wash was done by hand taking ages, perhaps it can be understood why that generation took great care to avoid your main clothes getting stained rather than today with easy to machine wash materials.

Being messed around again part 2 - result (of sorts)

You might possibly remember me going on about assessments recently and in particular the Personal Independence Payment that I was more or less forced to apply for in February as I was informed if I did not my existing Disability Living Allowance would stop.
This is because they decided to scrap the benefit for new claimants and force everyone to reapply from scratch rather than just migrating over, reviewing as necessary.
The process was and is long-winded with having to apply by phone, complete a form within a month and then wait for an assessment which for most people would of been at a premises rented for it but for me was a home assessment.
Well eventually I received a letter from Department of Works and Pensions who in the almost fictional separation of hired out assessors and their decision makers making them, they have decided to award me enhanced Daily Living and enhanced Mobility in a massive well stuffed envelope which has been made 'ongoing' which is way of not expressly saying indefinitely or for life but really means "we can't see you improving but we will  play to  the notion of Lazarus style recoveries for the public by giving you a date we'll check on it (but we won't do much other than confirm you're the same or worse) in ten years time.
This is significantly better than my original DLA award more inline with how I'd assess my needs although looking at the scoring they put nothing down for communication, stress, anxiety and making my own plans.
I could argue with that easily but in reality had they of put them in it would not altered the awards by the scoring points system because I knew I was at least standard Daily Living and potentially crossing into advanced and while they missed out things around help with every day life activities such as  planning, getting out which really would of given me around 4 or more points at least, they give me top points on Physical Disabilities such as getting up from a sat position and how far I could walk without needing to break off ordinarily  and so on and which were observed.
Given the overall result I feel just accepting it faults an all works as large chunks are covered and in the end the kind of support I may get to deal with these things will be down to me so I can always build in in the missing bits.

Introducing Oswald

It's been a little wet with showers across the week and indeed as this was typed up it was poring down heavily thoughts turned to indoor stuff.

 One thing I am very partial too is plushies and this one recently joined the collection that has been seen by a fair few people here like disability assessors of late as I don't believe in hiding this part of my life.
Oswald joined the menagerie a week ago being a gift that came from Northwich, Cheshire and flow down from the fireplace for his picture to be taken.
There has been just minor adjustment of the exposure as I get to grips with a newer photo processing program but that's about it.
I will be away next Monday so while there will be a blog issue coming out, I won't be around the usual sites posting links as a bit of being away is about digital detoxing apart from the rough internet where I'll be.
While I respect those who need to check works emails while away, personally I don't and so leave all such stuff behind.

Strange stuff happening

This week there's been a few things on my mind of which one I'll leap straight into right now.

Sanriotown.com is a place I visited rather a lot from around 2007 because it had a variety of things under one roof such as a Multiplayer game set in the Sanrio world you could play, a fairly active forum where people of all ages talked about all the different characters tv shows and merchandise, not just Hello Kitty but Twin Little Stars, Chococat and others too.
You could send e-cards - and I certainly did - based on the characters, download screensavers which I also did, have a blog there and have email accounts with your name@any of the sanriocharacters.com such as hello kitty.
All in all it was great place, ideal for a little too if you used a bit of commonsense when it comes to sharing spaces.
Over the years bits have fell off such as the game but this last few weeks not only has the email been down with "Down for service" but the whole site has too like this morning I couldn't connect even to the homepage.
I just get this feeling it's terminal.
Talking of terminal, my Mum's cousin died recently whose funeral was yesterday.
She devoted her life to looking after a severe learning disabled child well into 'adulthood' although to be honest she was only adult in years as in lots of ways she was more like an infant in her speech, relating patterns and play.
Finally at forum a thread about a person who used to post a lot but who seems to have moved on as it were seems to have descended into a personal dispute between three people which is really a bit sad as the reason had nothing to do with the subject just argumentative and super sensitive types seeing more in remarks than intended.

Activated in July edition

Reactivated original account at FA now restyled as Secondary seems to be going well as just the spot for writing at a pace that suits me about how I'm feeling, this life and all that's in it to the point the Avatar is this one which is sufficiently different and yet capturing a chunk of being me.
The long awaited New laptop is actually here and indeed this was written on it  although confusingly it came with a sticker and piece of paper saying it needed the 25 character code for authorizing windows entering although checking on Settings, Authorization and Updates showed it HAD been activated by "Digital License" one of two methods allowed under Windows 10 by Microsoft (they expressly use the word "either" between "digital license" and "product activation code").
That was as well as being dyslexic I find reading them especially when they use easily confused characters like B and 8 in small type and usually need support with it like someone who can read!
I've got the Quiz Question and worksheets printed off ready for Camp come the end of the month and my rail tickets for a lift down enroute, catering seems to be sorting itself out as is meals.
With all the other stuff that's been around me this and having to think about it has helped keep my thoughts out of the darker more riskier areas so the only things I need to concentrate on is getting a tablet review so I can have some more to take with me and getting my regular ones in town this week.

July weekend edition

Golly gosh, it's been a bright warm week here where I've been out of doors visiting the woodlands nearby, seeing quite a lot of bees, birds, the odd butterfly and dogs while about with plenty of summer meadowland too.
Quite a few people have been working on their gardens as we have too putting in new features like our ducks, putting compost down for the new plants and pulling up the weeds not just in the garden itself  but also at the edges and between the paving slabs with the literary cat putting in an appearance
I've been on my swing in the front corner side garden a good number of times too with just a top and shorts on going whee through the air which just so relaxing apart from spinning the odd record like this one.

Actually I first bought that in August 1995 and it is quite valuable as it was available for a very short period of time.
I've been using my Chromebook quite a bit as it save the time, especially the heat generated from the main laptop for chat and talking with my BFF although the new one will need to be set up in few days, just as soon as the hand book comes  then gradually adding the various programs and that I need before I can phase the old one out, confident by that point I know how to do things on it.
Things I have got arranged are my tickets to catch a train so I can get a lift to camp and back at the end of the month and printing the quiz questions with answer sheet off.

Making plans in Joville

I might as well begin where we left off and say the Sanriotown.com site eventually fixed its security certificate issue without actually acknowledging really somebody's job is to ensure they keep it up to date and apply the new one which considering this potentially could resulted in breaches of Children's Data is pretty serious.
One advantage in having your browsers information used with your Google Account is it always stays in step across different machines so if you've been as online as long as I have you can whip out the old laptop and edit the bookmarks as sites either lose all interest to you, Tumblrs get removed or sites have shut down for good  in the knowledge every machine you use will now be updated.
This probably is something I should of done a while back to be honest but the idea of doing to separate machines one by one put me off.
That said the new machine is working out fine for things like chatting with my BFF when the laptop isn't just overkill but takes a while to boot up and then runs warm which on a day like Saturday when it was almost 30 degrees C is the last thing you need as your sipping water by the beakerful, trying to stay cool.
One of of staying cool emotionally is listening to various kinds of classical music so I've spent part of the last week listening to a both the last disc in a set of Mozart Sonatas I have been collecting and a box of recordings by the Austrian conductor Herbert von Karajan that I used to own on record when I was younger.
I have decided what to do about the original Fur Affinity account that I got locked out of about three years ago and ended up having to remake it moving over pictures and the like as mysteriously it became unlocked but by this point there really was little point moving my posts back there because having made the current one home especially having got everyone who was following before to follow the new account.
Instead it'll be my secondary for the odd littlespace post that might go into my feelings and those bits of my life like spanking that doesn't easily slot into the other especially because of the Tumblr changes from November and December of last year that made it impossible to post links to this blog on it and effectively prevented me from posting anything that linked regression, emotion regulation issues and spanking on that site in the way one account I had on their did (and was much loved).
It isn't that there aren't some sites that do permit spanking talk (or even images) it's more that many of those that do go into fetishes like 'extreme' sissification, bondage, gore etc which I don't feel remotely comfortable with even if one is okay with caregiver/little relationships that may include nonsexual spanking.
