Music - can it take you to adultland?
I was reading a popular and usually pretty sensible Tumblr blog when I came by a post which was supposed to been all about of coming out of a regressed little headspace to re-enter a adult one which was interesting.
The first thing is with me if you hand not realized I'm not regressed in the sense in which I enter a younger headspace from having been in an adult one because actually I'm always like this.
It's more about to what extent I mask it to the point I just have a meltdown cos some of you can't handle it.
The bigger thing was they were were talking about steps to take to get back into this adult state of mind and one they suggested was playing music you associated with that role and like I was thinking "Uh-huh?"
Look, I know a fair bit about music, did it at school, collect recordings by many artists in different genres and have been know to blog elsewhere about it but is there really such a thing thing as music you associate with being adult?
I was listening to symphonies and solo piano music at the age 8 starting to have a bit of a record collection as that girl, like most of you I heard my folks favourites some of which I liked and some I didn't but all this music takes me back to my childhood.
If you heard a song of your parents that they liked to play doesn't that actually take you back in that time?
To me that's always been the thing. Music takes you back.
I get it that you may need to do somethings like run your own finances and work if you're capable of it so you can't just stay at home playing with your barbies but the idea that there is music that somehow catapults you back to doing adult stuff I find very hard going.

Doing things Jo style
The first thing to say is there are some who like to push their ideas on you when it comes to how you present not just in terms of dress but what you do like I don't see the point in looking like and saying 'you feel like one' only to have very groan up discussions of the sort you might have in workplaces.
I decided to put my feelings pretty much on the line where it comes to the variety of forms of presenting as more as a Little/Middle simply because as I see it we all do it differently and so do actual little or middle girls.
While it's not uncommon for girls to wear shorts or trousers to school however much traditionalists may not so keen on it as I saw earlier on in the week where one girl of about ten living on our road wore grey long trousers to school and still be the same girl who may put a dress on whenever she feels like it.
For all that you see I'm still me, Jo, and I don't like pigeon holes.

Hair today!
Apart from loving the plaid zip up dress she's wearing, I've always had a soft spot for doing things with hair as in like braiding and I'd of loved mine to have been put in pig tails like this although I like traditional ribbons with bows more.
As for why she's facing that wall, perhaps it is she's said or done something that doesn't quite warrant anything else other having to stand in the corner for a period to think about it.
Few of us were perfect as children and not a few of us can and do get things wrong even now trust me.

Who is that person?
Easter's been and gone now with the egg all consumed.
Alternative versions of life though sometimes throw up some ideas such as what would it be really like if you did possess a mirror that while showing your body pose nonetheless showed you in a different light altogether.Would you be looking for a touch extra sophistication and glamour making waves in a more goth inspired look or perhaps something more like a dress more suited to a cocktail party thinking that really was you.
Or maybe something more like that?Perhaps you might feel it's as much about what you add to what you wear that makes the difference in being that version of you?

Easter edition
The day was going rather well as I thought being up in time for a shower followed by washing my hair before going the watermelon and toast for breakfast .
Then I was expecting to see granny as we can have one visitor in our house now with the new covid rules announced on Monday so I was checking my messages when I had one saying "See you in a few minutes, better get yourself comfortable!. Love Granny" which was odd as I thought she was just popping around with my Easter Egg.It was a little Easter ritual that went back to early girlhood sometimes I'd go to her and on other times she came up to me which usually began by asking if I'd been good.
Anyway, I heard the doorbell go and saw that she was there so invited her into the front room after offering to put the kettle on, fixing coffee for two.
Anyway I returned to the room where I saw she had a Waitrose shopping bag with her as she said "I hear you didn't clear up your bedroom according to my Daughter when she last saw you".
"Have you anything to say about that?"
I mumbled something under my breath as over the years I'd forgotten how close they were and how she'd learn about my poor school grades before I even mentioned school on our visits.
"Well I have" she replied. She grabbed my arm before saying "You may be an adult in law my dear but do you recall what I did to you girls when they did not keep their bedrooms tidy, Jo?"
"You s-s-spanked them, granny? I said stuttering"
"That is correct and it's time you my dear were reminded of it with haste" she said before adding "Over my knee right now".
Well this was great I thought. Does this mean I don't get my Egg after all as just went over her knew feeling just like her little girl all over again in trouble for spilling stuff before I felt a hand go up my skirt and "You won't need these" as she proceeded to pull my knickers down and give me a firm hand spanking".
"What do you have to say now" she asked. "I'm sorry for not keeping my room tidy, granny" I said as my bottom was stinging "and for needing a good spanking. I'll get it done right away".
"Well, I'll stay to help" you she said "and as you feel that's what you needed after all these years, Jo, let's say you let me spank you from now on, just like we used to then. Agreed Jo?"
"Yes granny and thank you. I'd rather you did as I haven't really grown up" I said.
"I know, Jo. Your my favourite forever little girl and I'll take care of you the way we did then"
After clearing it all up with granny's help, she said "Let's go back into the front room".
We went back in as she hand me this Thornton's chocolate egg and said "I was thinking if you truly deserved it earlier on but you put your back into the tidying up so you there you go, it's yours after all.
"Thank you for that lovely egg. I love unicorns."
"Well my dear you were all unicorns and smacked bottoms back then and nothing's changed in those has it?".
"No granny" I said before she was for off and I thanked her again with a few more places to call on.
Easter never felt more different and yet the same for being that eternal girl all over again, loving the simple life.

The grass isn't always greener
This week it's different.
I read a story recently about a person who while being very much an adult of a good number of decades nontheless felt very much a younger woman in terms of her development around their 30's, interests and so on.
Although there are some similarities, this isn't about a person who is a age regressor, a person who temporarily goes back to time and mindset of someone younger often a child but a person who because of medical conditions in childhood has compared to their peers a much slower and less developed mindset to his or her peers to the point that they are permanently functionally and functioning as someone younger.
A term used in recent years to describe such a person is age dysphoric or having age dysphoria a state of difference, tensions with being on paper and possibly physically looking older than on the inside they actually are.
Often people like that get told to "grow up" (as if) or "act your age" when actually that is what you are doing.
Anyway this person is Trans and had been in a circle in her locality for a while going to meetings and social events together when she started to talk about this other side of her life when she was told to her face she was a sick pedo, a freak and was no longer welcome and what is more they circulated this across the trans networks in her area including deliberately planting untrue rumours like being a threat to children.
Thus she now has no trans social life as a the younger Woman she feels and developmentally is is on the inside facing hostility.
I have to say as someone who probably is like that I feel quite angry that a person who has done nothing wrong, isn't abusing children, treats people with respect was hounded out of their local trans community for a whole load of utter misunderstandings and then subject to untruths being spread.
How dare they go on about how this group and that group is included in lgbtq, that everybody's rights are valued and yet they treat her like that?
Perhaps THEY should 'grow up'?
