Fun and Games edition

Seeing it's the annual Greenland's Bonfire and ghoulish weekend to which a number of my friends are attending, I thought I'd add something from a far as a contribution in kind to that magical spirit.

Pumpkins will be carved making them into lanterns, food will no doubt be consumed and finally that there bonfire will be lit which I think is a British tradition.

It was a bit late finishing Saturday night so we weren't in bed until Sunday morning but then we lost an hour with changing back to GMT which really affected my "spoons" later on.

We did go before people departed for an enjoyable meal at a local gastropub which was extremely tasty and also relatively inexpensive

 

Meanwhile all the stores are gearing up to Christmas time getting new stock  in and starting the promotions for toys and games which kinda reminded me of one we used to play both at school and at home.

The great thing about Junior Scrabble the word based games is there are two tways of playing.Younger players can begin with the exciting, ‘Words and Pictures’, a game expressly created to help with the recognition and formation of complex words. 

someone has mastered that there's ‘Rainbow Scrabble’, which is the more challenging version intended for younger players of age seven and upwards. 

The scoring system is identical to the ‘grown-up’ version, yet far easier to use and keep track of. In a clever move both games are also conveniently located on each side of the board, making it easy to swap from ‘Words and Pictures’ to ‘Rainbow Scrabble’.

Feeding the famished affections

Bits that matter have at times been ignored in this blog because other bigger topics have predominated at times and one is the importance of the relationship between any adult with responsibilities and me as the the adult child.

It isn't enough to say "I'm the adult here" you need to explain carefully about what has concerned you about me and my life whither or not it is because I have been unwell and we all know I was earlier this year for instance  or it is because you needed to chastise me because of things I said or did that impacted on other people or even just me.

It matters that you reveal your love and care for and about me so I cannot mistake that concern for just you just wanting the upper hand with me, that there really is a serious point to all of this.

It is about words, it is about deeds but above all it is about feelings, feelings you can share and make sure I really get by your cuddles, hugs and other aspects of the physical expression of your love and affection.

Given some of the terrible things that have happened in my life, this really matters.

Lending support

 

I've never really been much of a one for cheerleading anyone or anything really as if they or it were the total answer to what might of been needed probably because I'm more accustomed to very much nuanced thought processes.

Things tend to have pluses and minus's in my world be they ideas or the people who bring them in and so alternatives are seldom without merit so things may be more finally balanced for me than perhaps others.

Sometimes people think you're not loyal, totally behind things but for the difference between success and failure lies in having a sense of proportion and the preparedness to seek advice before committing oneself to a course of action and to use it.

It can also mean that when things are just not turning out right, having the humility to accept that and change course before being overtaken by events.

Online welfare

 

Today's message is simple.

Try to spend less time staring at that thing as if your live depended upon it.

Keep tabs on what sort of content comes in your your stream: does it it make you anxious, depressed or feel like self harming?

Is it keeping you up at night?

Try to find people who you can trust to talk about what you've seen if it's troubling you.

If a site is a worry because of things like child pr0n, inappropriate content or otherwise harmful report it.

The topsy turvey week

 

It's a New Month although I not sure about celebrating the fact with all this chaos and worry about like my mate Money going down the pan last week when someone appeared to get their sums badly wrong.

I mean if I said I'd let some one pay less but borrow the money cover it without showing how I'd repay you do you think they'd just let me do that.

Sometimes you need to borrow money because letting things just contract could cost us more in the longer term but you do need to transparent about it because ultimately it comes from other people.

That thankfully seems to have stopped after last weeks mayhem but it does make me wonder just what of  guidance they get.

I'm just glad my money has some value now.

Going for a spin

 

Girls of a certain age will get this totally, knowing the lp record jackets they are holding although the discs are North American albums not issued over here but we are in a a students flat, enjoying a party.

There is something very sociable in music being a shared thing between a group of people which people talk about, play in each others company and maybe go to live performances together.

Now one beauty of the lp - this is being typed as I'm actually playing records right now - is the bigger tapestry for album art and ease of reading any notes which are common place on Jazz and Classical recordings concerning the compositions and performances you are hearing.

I find when I am not well, which sadly isn't uncommon to play something brings back pleasanter memories apart from being soothing if one takes suitable precautions to avoid loud volumes.

My record deck has an auto off which means if I drift of to sleep it will stop and lift the arm back up so needle and record isn't harmed although compact disc is more "idiot proof" apart from potentially program lengths before needing to be changed over.

How or what you may collect is personal - I have popular compilations that are ideal for putting on when radio may be playing stuff you don't like  or for just drifting back in time to outside of artists in popular music and Composers for Jazz and Classical but having something you can touch and play is just magical.

Somethings afoot!

Different kind of a week when it came to events in the background as much as we did have a bit more of "normal tv" in the final days rather than wall to wall live coverage of events connected to the death of our Queen.

You can understand it but there are times when it gets a bit too much as much as it act as a bit of a primer to how our constitution works, an aid to study.

Sometimes I just don't know what gets over me like apart from getting bratty I shot through two requests to take stuff to and empty the bin.

That resulted in the loopy cane making an appearance while over a lap with my knickers taken down and another caning a couple of days later just in case I thought it wasn't so bad after all.

On the other side I did some cute kitty socks which were cool!
